Why do certain foods make us fat but do not affect others around us?
Our constitution and genetics play a huge role in digestion of the foods we eat.
The three doshas Vata, Pitta and Kapha play an important role in defining our body constitution and this effects the overall structure and functioning of our body. In every way this defines how we digest, assimilate and excrete our foods, thoughts and every other activity.
When it comes to food, it is best to choose a diet as per one’s capacity of digestion and excretion. What suits one may not suit the other. Be sensitive and sensible while choosing the right foods, don’t just choose fat-free and fat-loss foods all the time as certain types of fat are extremely important for the functioning of the body.
Maintain simple dietary habits and connect with your roots. Go back to the foods you ate as a child and in your teens. The gut has a natural capacity to digest those foods. As work and travel take us away from our land and native places, we must adapt to the new locations in the best capacity. In today’s time and age getting food that is easy on your gut is not a big deal. You must use your common sense and pick food that is local with flavours resonating the tastes from your growing years. These are the foods that will always fill your soul and enrich your body more easily than others. Remember that depriving yourself of something may have more repercussions than you may know. Be smart, don’t look outside for solutions when you can look within for the best one.
