    Over the last decade, we have taught Yoga applying the Four Limbs of Study at Shriyog and deliverd excellent results in improved Body, Breath & Mind quality for all our students

    Our study calendar is divided into 3 seasons. Shriyog offerings such as Iyengar Yoga classes & workshops, Courses in Ayurveda, Wellness, Philosophy, Anatomy and even Indian Classical Music are all based around the Shriyog Calendar. Each of our offerings are planned & delivered keeping in mind the best practices for the human body, breath & mind for any particular season

    Our aim at Shriyog is to create a ONE HEALTHY WORLD. This is only possible by creating independent and long-term Yoga practitioners who have complete control of their physical health, diet, breath and mind. All Shriyog offerings are a small a step towards this

    Selecting the right Iyengar Yoga classes

    Choosing the right class makes all the difference. Every new student will get 1 trial class to help make this decision. Book your trial class here

    A word of advice – it is always better to begin at Beginner batches if one is not sure. You are welcome to join our classes at any season or any month in the calendar year.

    Beginners Yoga

    The beginners course is designed for absolute beginners in Iyengar Yoga. The syllabus covers a thorough list of 30+ Yogasanas designed for beginner practice based on the Shriyog seasons calendar spread over 12 months. You can join this course at anytime of the year. The classes ar for 45 minutes. Breathing practices are also a part of monthly syllabus. We recommended a minimum of 6 months to 1 year in this course before graduating to the Beginners+ program

    • Lower back stretches
    • Neck exercises
    • Asanas for spine flexibility
    • Asanas for the digestive system
    • Asanas for the heart, liver, kidneys and other organs
    • Breathing & Pranayama
    • Asanas for Relaxation & better sleep
     
    You will also be introduced to some Iyengar Yoga props in this course
    Recommended for­
    • Beginners in Iyengar Yoga
    • Students who have had a break from Yoga practice & are returning back
    • Recovering from minor injuries & health problems
    • Lifestyle & stress management

     

    Beginners+ Yoga 

    The beginners+ course is designed for beginners who are new to Iyengar Yoga but have previous experience in other forms of Yoga. The syllabus covers a thorough list of 75+ Yogasanas, dedicated stretching classes and one dedicated pranayama class. All practices are based on the Shriyog seasons calendar spread over 12 months. You can join this course at anytime of the year. The classes are for 60 minutes.  We recommended a minimum of 12 to 18 months in this course before graduating to the Intermediate course

    What do beginner+ classes include?
    • Asanas with alignment lessons for arms
    • Asanas with alignment lessons for legs
    • Posture correction
    • Lower back stretches & strengthening
    • Neck exercises & strengthening
    • Asanas for the digestive system
    • Asanas for the heart, liver, kidneys and other organs
    • Dedicated Breathing & Pranayama sessions
    • Asanas for Relaxation & better sleep
    • Asanas for spine flexibility
     
    You will also be using Iyengar Yoga props for Asanas in this course
    Recommended for 
    • Students with foundational knowledge of Iyengar Yoga.
    • Students who have completed at-least 6 months of  Beginner classes 

     

    Intermediate Yoga

    This course is designed for Intermediate students. The syllabus covers a thorough list of 100+ Yogasanas designed for intermediate practice based on the Shriyog seasons calendar spread over 12 months. Intermediate classes at Shriyog mainly focus on deeper alignment of the body, flexibility and strength with introduction to philosophy and ayurveda concepts in the form of tips and suggestions . You will also be using Iyengar Yoga props which will be helpful in taking your practice and experience deeper. Every month, one Pranayama class will also be conducted specifically designed for intermediate students

    Recommended for 
    • Students who have practiced in Beginner+ classes for at least 12 months.

     

    SPECIAL BATCHES

    Women’s Health

    Recommended for – Women over the age of 18 years

    Class focus – Focus is on the woman’s organic body and solutions to common ailments faced by women at different stages of life.  Diet and lifestyle advice specific to women’s health, tips and guidance for self-practise, Asanas for mensuration, menopause and related organic health.

    Outcomes – Improved physical, organic and mental health, flexibility in joints and muscles, reduce fatigue, improve emotional stability

    Focus is on the woman’s organic body and solutions to common ailments faced by women at different stages of life. Diet, Ayurveda and lifestyle advice specific to women’s health are naturally embedded in class practice. Asanas for mensuration, menopause and related organic health are periodically covered in the syllabus based on the Shriyog seasons calendar spread over 12 months.

    Savasana & Pranayama

    Recommended for – All levels of Asana & Pranayama practitioners

    Class focus – Practice Pranayama in a technically, clinically correct and safe manner. The class focus is a strict syllabus in various Pranayama and techniques. The basics are repetitively touched upon with gradual progress to higher Pranayama practices as the classes progress month on month.

    Outcomes – Deeper breathing, initiation into breath and mental discipline

    Pranayama is the fourth limb in Ashtanga Yog. Pranayama must be practiced after the body has gone through some Asana practice. At Shriyog, Pranayama classes are conducted with utmost care and diligence to ensure that students become intelligent about their breath and breathing. The class focuses on a syllabus based on the Shriyog seasons calendar spread over 12 months. The basics are repetitively touched upon with gradual progress to pranayama variations

    Seniors Yoga

    Recommended for – Senior citizens, absolute beginners to Yoga & Iyengar Yoga, Recovering from ailments and injuries

    Class focus – Selected list of Asana practice for beginners, body alignment, joints and muscle flexibility are the main focus of these classes.

    Outcomes – Reduce aches and pains, improve flexibility, improve breathing

    Gen-Next (kids & teens)

    For age groups 8 to 14 yrs. High intensity Yoga for kids by Shriyog Youth teachers. So get your young ones to jump, roll, twist, bend and learn throughout these session

     Advice and Cautions for all classes
    • Wear comfortable unrestrictive clothing and bare feet to practise. Shorts and a T-shirt are best. It’s best if your knees and ankles can be seen.
    • Allow four hours after a main meal or one hour after a light snack before class.
    • If you are menstruating certain asanas are not suitable so please consult the teacher at the beginning of the class.
    • Some of our classes are not suitable for pregnant women or for people with certain medical conditions. If you think that this might apply to you it is essential that you contact us for advice on yoga classes that would best suit your needs.
    • If your medical condition changes you must inform us in advance of class.
    Do we need Props in Yoga practice?

    All props are provided free of charge in all our classes at the institute

    Props are not mandatory and students can do independent asanas without any props. But the benefits of props cannot be ignored.  Everybody is different and props guide everyone to get the maximum benefits of the poses. Having your own yoga kit of Authentic Iyengar Yoga Props that are designed by Guruji BKS Iyengar in shape and size is recommended strongly and they certainly help accelerate and refine one’s practise.

    Bricks – Bricks are recommended for novice practitioner who struggle to sit straight for short period of time. It is helpful to buy a brick with the right dimension and right material. Wooden brick is recommended to the foam ones.

    Belts – Belts are helpful for senior citizens and students with injury to stay longer in a restorative pose and gain maximum benefits of the pose. Belt is a must have even in advanced level classes due to its various uses.

    Chair- A yoga chair has the right dimension that helps to put any type of body in the correct asana without injury. It’s a great help for people to get into some difficult poses in a safe and easy manner.

    Blankets – The blankets used for practise have a certain thickness and texture which help in yoga practise. The material of the blankets plays a vital role so the student doesn’t slip on sink in his asanas.
