What is the role of Savasana in Pranayama?

Savasana is like shifting the gears of a car. If we are experiencing any problem like blood pressure, thyroid, depression, etc., there is a speed-regulator (Savasana) within our system which helps us treat any disease. Yogis regulate this speed by practising renunciation. But, we as householders, require the guidance of a teacher. This speed regulator comes into play in our daily activity like sleeping, eating, etc.

In the olden days, Pranayama was a part of all these activities. In Ramayana, Kaushalya performed Pranayama before meeting Shri Rama and blessing him before he left for his 14-year exile. The mother’s heart was broken, so she did Pranayama to set her speed right, and then blessed her son. The blessings were powerful because of the regulation of the speed. We can also achieve it, if we work towards regulating our speed through correct practice of Pranayama.

Any act of life with regulated speed distances us from grief and sorrow. Guruji has given us a very clinical Pranayama with accurate instructions. He has held our hands and guided us to the steps of the temple. The journey from outside the temple to the shrine inside is our own journey. I wish you luck in this journey.
