There is a lot of ego and show-off value attached to Sirsasana, and that maybe the cause of a lot of hurt and pain in the future. The mind associates itself with ahamkara and the sensual gratifications instead of the organs of action. But, aham is supposed to be your inner self and not your inflated ego. Unfortunately, our manas follows the ego instead of the self and claims “I am doing”. At this stage, our sensitivity and intelligence cannot be developed to progress in the asana. We need to carry forward the intelligence of preliminary asana to intermediate asana to progress in Sirsasana, or for that matter any advanced asana. It is our intelligence that can help us penetrate through the different sheaths of asanas and reach a level where the asana is being done and we are just observers. We must step out of the “I am doing” and only “correct doing” should exist. So, the next time weattempt Sirsasana, let us focus on the legs. Let us lengthen the thighs and the outer buttocks. If we ensure that our mind is focused on these right actions, it will not have time to communicate with the ego. Remember, we are on the crown of our head balancing the whole-body weight on it. So, we cannot afford to be ignorant
